Wii & GuitarHero 3

April 8, 2008

The Wii is great fun, the jumping around swinging the controller aspect of the games is the main attraction as the graphics are nothing to write home about when compared to the Xbox 360 or the PS3 and the games selection is also somewhat limited. However, it does have Guitar Hero 3. This is officially the most fun you can have with your clothes on. It’s an incredibly simple concept, press the 5 coloured buttons in the right order as they show up on the screen. Sounds boring until you add in a rock soundtrack and a guitar shaped controller at which point it becomes the missing link between air guitar and your wallet being introduced to Messrs Fender, Gibson & Marshall. Playing along, even on a simple level, to Eric Johnson’s Cliffs of Dover or rocking out to Paranoid just brings a huge smile to your face. If you can play guitar then you’ll have some understanding of the timing and fingering notes with your left hand whilst strumming with your right but even if you’ve never picked up a guitar in your life it is easy to get going…just don’t be surprised if you end up in your local music shop looking at the real thing very soon.
